"Likkhe Jo khat tumhe...", for me, is visual poetry, which surprisingly came from a space of deep hurt.
I was waiting for my feature film spec script titled All For The Love of Her to be green-lighted, but the rejections came pouring in one after another. All in all, twelve OTT platforms, production houses, and producers rejected my spec script.
The pain of rejection can get numbing - after wallowing in self-pity for a while, I stopped lamenting over things that were not in my control and started doing something that I knew best - creating short films.
During the waiting period, I wrote 4 short film scripts:
Likkhe Jo Khat Tumhe...,
Master Stroke,
Restartwala Bug, and
Gantavya Nahi, Pravas.
But when it came to choosing the one to shoot, it was -
Likkhe Jo khat Tumhe...

"Likkhe jo khat tumhe...", coming from a man, me, in many ways, is not only pretentious but also kind of hypocritical.
I, like several other men, am Pradeep and have taken for granted the most important woman in my life - my wife.
"Likkhe jo khat tumhe..." makes me look at my wife and also my mother from a different perspective.
I was always blinded by a man's perspective -
My mother, I always saw through my father's eyes, and
my wife, through mine.
I so much wish that my sons do not see their mother through my eyes at all.
Instead, they see her for who she is!
Appreciate her for who she is!
Love her and respect her for who she is!
I wish I had done so when my mom was here, in the living world; through Sulochna, I ask my mom for forgiveness for not getting to know her for who she was, and what she couldn't be in raising two men - me and my dad.
My heart is filled with gratitude for my two Actors,
Chitra Jha and Hesh Sarmalkar, for accepting to be a part of this project.
Chitra - for letting us into your world, so also for the enthusiasm and devotion with which you embodied the written word, the creative inputs you freely shared, and the readiness to take on this entirely new process. In many ways, unearthing your own feelings through Sulochna, but keeping the professionalism and calm intact.
Hesh - for being very professional. The amazing screen presence, the acting talent and the deep voice you are gifted with, all of which makes Pradeep believable.
Gratitude to Rupal Rawal, Surbhi Sharma, and Sancheet Bagtharia for being a part of this film without a single dialogue or physical presence. It also means, we love you all so much, we find a way to make you a part of our films.
Gratitude to Narayani and Shurjo for the most surreal locale for the most crucial scene.
Gratitude to Atul Karnik, Karnik Developers, and the Aangan family for a beautiful outdoor locale.
Sonnal, Shahen, and Shahaan... simply love, hugs, and a big thank you for all the creative inputs and being my support system. This journey, from Dabba to Likkhe Jo Khat Tumhe, wouldn't have been as beautiful and fulfilling as it is without the constant encouragement and love.
